New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Who we are - Ko wai mātou
At the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) the work we do counts - it's challenging, unique and continuously evolving. We aim to create better outcomes for investors, consumers and the New Zealand economy through our unwavering commitment to promoting and facilitating fair, efficient and transparent financial markets.
The FMA's remit and regulatory approach are expanding and evolving to have a stronger focus on conduct and outcomes-based regulation.
The Role - Te Tūranga
Right now, we're looking for a Senior Adviser to join our Deposit Taking team. This team supervises the conduct of what we call the deposit taking sector (i.e. all banks, as well as non-bank deposit takers, such as credit unions) using an outcomes-based approach to regulation. As a Senior Adviser in this space, you will actively engage with deposit taking entities, including meeting with senior management, conducting onsite and desk-based reviews to monitor the conduct/compliance of the deposit taking sector.
The Deposit Taking team is project leading the planning and delivery of the CoFI regime, so you will also support this programme of work in this role.
About you - Ō pūkenga
In this varied and intellectually stimulating role, your stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills will be put to great use, in combination with your natural curiosity and ability to think critically. You will thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can flex accordingly - because no two days are the same here We're particularly interested to hear from those who can demonstrate the following:

- Understanding and appreciation of how financial markets regulation works
- A solid background working within financial services or relevant environment (for example, working within a bank, a non-bank deposit taker, a consultancy/professional services firm or another regulator)
- Fantastic communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to balance being in the detail to problem solve, critically think and analyse information while also maintaining a broader perspective on strategic regulatory objectives

What we offer - Ngā painga
We hire people who want to make a difference and care about good conduct outcomes for New Zealand financial services. You will learn from the perspective of how an outcomes-focused regulator thinks.
The FMA fosters a supportive, fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment. We offer additional FMA annual leave days, a plethora of learning offerings to develop our people both professionally and from a personal well-being perspective.
