The Ministry for Primary Industries are currently recruiting for an Adviser to join our Operational Programme Delivery directorate, which forms part of our wider Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service business unit based in Wellington.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
As an Adviser in the Delivery Monitoring and Reporting team you will have a unique opportunity to help Te Uru Rākau New Zealand Forest Service to ensure timely and accurate provision of reporting for a range of forestry and climate change initiatives so as to meet its obligations for Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) reporting requirements, both internally and externally.
In this newly created role you will participate in the development of effective reporting processes to ensure effective oversight and risk management across a range of initiatives.
You'll work alongside team members within Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service and more broadly within MPI, programme workstream leads, and external agencies to ensure that reporting is fit-for-purpose and all requirements are met and align with our strategic direction.

**Core responsibilities for the role**:

- Work collaboratively to support the delivery of reporting in a timely manner utilising the reporting system to enable a “collect once and use many times” approach.
- Produce regular reports to support the provision of analysis and insights to advise the leadership team of trends and emerging issues.
- Utilise you reporting skills to develop reports that support the decision making of the manager and senior leaders of Te Rākau New Zealand Forest Service.

We are looking for an expert in reporting who understands the value that this provides to support decision making and assurance of performance. To do this, you will have the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and credibility with senior management and a wide range of stakeholders.
You will display the necessary communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate business information effectively to diverse individuals, groups, and interests.
You will bring a high degree perseverance to follow through on assigned tasks to successful completion or resolution and have the capacity to work on multiple reporting activities. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to identify and advocate for potential improvements to processes.

**To be successful in this role, you will offer**:

- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that processes conform to best practice and that data is accurate and provided in in a timely manner
- An understanding of the financial and performance reporting requirements within the Public Sector and relevant legislation.
- Experience in, or knowledge of, strategic and business planning processes, performance reporting requirements, and leadership team governance support
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a teams
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience.
