At Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa, our success hinges on our people. The People & Capability group actively seeks and supports great talent, fostering a skilled and capable workforce dedicated to delivering positive outcomes for people in prison and the broader community. We support a nationwide diverse team of 10,000 people working in a range of disciplines including custody, community corrections, psychology, nursing and corporate. Our job is to enable them to achieve our strategy, Hokai Rangi, through the 24/7 services we deliver.
The Principal Adviser Cultural Capability will lead a team of eight Advisers who support the design and delivery of cultural capability uplift strategy and business solutions. As the team is spread across the motu and embedded in our regions, the Principal Adviser will role model good practice leadership and ensure whanaungatanga across the team.

You have had exposure to the justice sector environment and can build a bridge between strategy and practice. Colleagues would describe you as solutions focused, with a growth mindset that allows you to see past problems and come up with creative solutions. You can navigate the ambiguity of Government processes, influencing and getting things done.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

**You'll bring the following with you to the role**:

- Experience in building and/or leading a high performing team
- Sound theoretical and conceptual knowledge of organisational strategic planning and policy development
- An understanding of the complexity of the Corrections, Justice, Social and wider Public Sector systems and resonates with Māori in our management.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range Is $137,525 and the full range is $116,897- $165,030. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
