**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

As a key position within the region, you will be responsible for providing executive support to the Director of Education by effectively managing their schedule and performing a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative, secretarial and research duties.

Duties performed require considerable confidentiality, initiative, and mature and independent judgment. The Executive Assistant will support the Director of Education to ensure they are well positioned to deliver on its overarching strategic and operational objectives and ensuring collaboration across Te Mahau and Te Tāhuhu.

As Executive Assistant you will develop knowledge and understanding of the Director of Education's work commitments and priorities to assist them in meeting their requirements. This includes analysing information received to identify emerging issues, associated risks and potential solutions and ensure they are brought to Director of Education's attention.

**Mōhou ake | About you**

To be successful in this role you will have the following capabilities and competencies:

- Proven experience providing executive support to a senior leader in a complex organisation.
- Experience booking travel, organising conferences/ events and related requirements
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Knowledge of and experience of the Machinery of Government and/or public sector (desired)
- Proven ability to maintain utmost integrity in all interactions and treating all information you are party to in your role as confidential.
- A track record of excellent customer service focus and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships across a diverse group of customers and gain their trust and respect.
- Demonstrate initiative and a high degree of professional independence, self-discipline and remaining calm under pressure.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

Te Mahau | Te Tai Raro (_North_) is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services, such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services. As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.
