Our Oncology and Palliative Care department is located in Christchurch Hospital, this department specialises in seeing and treating patients diagnosed and being treated for Cancer.

This is a primarily outpatient focused service seeing approximately 57,000 patients in our outpatient service each year.

We are looking for an experienced Administrator/Booking Coordinator to provide administrative support to our Department?

As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 4/Profile 4 steps

As an Administrator/Booking Coordinator, your responsibilities will include

  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail,
  • Maintaining weekly rosters and leave schedules,
  • Managing patient information and communicating effectively with all internal and external clients.
  • Booking preadmission clinics and patient admissions,Coordinating and booking patients at other sites as required and maintaining operating lists and waiting lists

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in a role which required meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience in a role which requires you to communicate effectively both in person and on the telephone in a courteous, helpful and compassionate manner
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office suite e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook etc. with the ability to develop and learn new skills as new software programs and systems are introduced.
  • Demonstrated organisational, time management / prioritisation and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise being able to meet deadlines and work unsupervised
  • Sense of humour, cando attitude, reliable only need to ask once, good personality fit, persistent

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Patient Management System, Soprano, Scope and other current inhouse computer systems
  • Commitment to standards of excellence and service improvement.
  • Broad administrative experience in a health related field
  • Ability to interpret multiple cultural accents with confidence to seek clarification if dictation is unclear
