Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Principal Advisor, Ethics to join our team at the Ministry of Health in Wellington. As a key member of our Regulation and Monitoring Directorate, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and guidance on health and disability research ethics and reproductive technology ethics.

About Us:
The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health system in New Zealand, responsible for regulating the health sector and providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. Our Ethics team supports Ministerial Ethics Committees and Strategy and Policy ethics committees to provide independent expert advice and ethical review of assisted reproductive technology and health and disability research.

Your Key Responsibilities:
Provide timely and high-quality advice to support Manager, Ethics, other Ethics staff, Ministerial Ethics Committees, and Strategy and Policy ethics committees
Analyse complex technical information to provide advice to a wide range of audiences
Leverage your expertise in risk management, governance, and key issues impacting the New Zealand health and disability sector
Develop and implement effective strategies to address complex health and disability research ethics and reproductive technology ethics challenges
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize areas for improvement

About You:
You possess a Master's degree (or equivalent) in ethics, philosophy or a related field and have advanced knowledge of the machinery of Government, risk management, and key issues impacting the New Zealand health and disability sector. Your experience in managing high-profile and sensitive issues, influencing people, leading work programmes, change management, and facilitation is essential. Excellent advisory and communication skills, coupled with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure, are crucial for this role.
