The Department of Conservation is seeking a passionate and collaborative Senior Issues and Regional Support Advisor to join the Operations Support Unit. The Senior Advisor will work with the Operations Issues Manager, Director and other senior managers to support high profile, complex mahi that delivers on conservation outcomes. This is your chance to join us and play a pivotal role in enhancing the work of our national and regional Operations Groups.

The Senior Issues & Regional Support Advisor will be focussed on:

- Helping to manage intricate issues across not only operations groups but across other units across the Department.
- Reviewing Departmental advice from a risk lens.
- Supporting our senior managers with proactive risk management and oversight.

- Skilled in working with and through others to deliver outputs of high quality.
- Strong interpersonal skill and proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation.
- Strong systems thinking, risk and issues analysis and mitigation skills.
- Strong written business communication skills e.g. recommendations for senior managers and briefings for a Minister.
- Experience, or interest, in working with whanau, hapū and iwi with the ability to work in a Te Ao Maori context and ability to adhere to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Political nous, excellent understanding of machinery of government.
- Plans and organises work to deliver on objectives; manages competing priorities effectively.
- Current full driving licence.
- Experience in and/or understanding of working in an operationally focussed government department would be advantageous.
