Based in the Electorate office in Hamilton East, part time, you'll be working to support the very machinery of Aotearoa New Zealand's democracy.

Your effective communication skills will be crucial to your success as a Senior MP Support Advisor.

You'll be able to work with a variety of people from across the community and at a ministerial level in an engaging and empathetic way, with a strong focus on customer service.

Your self-awareness and relationship-building skills will help you fit in with the strong existing team. Your administration skills and experience will ensure you keep up with the demands of the role.


Working as a senior community advisor means that you'll be absolutely fine with working in a hybrid way, sometimes from the office, sometimes out in the community.

If you like problem solving, working collaboratively and learning on the job, then this will be for you.

Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities:

  • Lead liaison between the Member and the community
  • Build, develop and maintain relationships with local groups and networks to understand and respond to their needs
  • Receive and investigate constituents' concerns/issues, meeting with constituents for further information where required
  • Lead advocacy for constituent issues that Ministerial level, with Government agencies, e.g. Work and Income, Immigration NZ, and with other business and community organisations where required

The pay band for the role starts at $78,750 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience.

All employees who work for MPs are employed on an 'events based' agreement, with your employment linked to your MP.

This role is based in the Electorate office in Hamilton East. The role is part time with some flexibility with hours.
