This role represents the perfect blend of community engagement and people leadership, working with Hon Tama Potaka MP and the electorate. At the core of this position is the requirement to administer and supervise the day-to-day operation of the office to ensure all necessary functions are covered.

You'll need to be comfortable with supervising, coaching, managing and coordinating staff who might be working in a hybrid model of working remotely, working in the office and/or out in the community.

Based in the Hamilton West Electorate Office for 24-30 hours per week you'll be working to support the machinery of Aotearoa New Zealand's democracy.

We are really motivated to speak with people who possess office management skills, leadership qualities, and a love for their local community. You'll be able to clearly convey real-world examples of these with ease. A big part of this position is to have strong interpersonal skills, essentially the ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships.

You'll be required to work autonomously within the Hamilton West Electorate Office and will be well known for your proactive, driven, resilient nature. Basically, you are a real-world and pragmatic problem solver. If you can demonstrate how you have kept standards high within an office environment, this will put you in great stead.

**Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities**:

- Administer and supervise office processes, procedures and standards to enable the smooth running of the office(s), ensuring staff understand their responsibilities and are aware of the confidential nature of their work
- Manage the Member's support budget allocation, process expenses and follow up on any issues, and deliver monthly certification reports for the Member's approval
- Lead, coordinate and support staff and volunteers in the Member's Electorate office(s) with a clear strategic plan
- Manage staff leave rosters, and administer office security and facilities management where required
- Be an escalation point for other staff regarding constituent case management, policy or communications issues

The pay band for the role starts at $70,000 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an 'events based' agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based Hamilton West Electorate office for 24-30 hours per week.
