As Parliamentary Community Engagement & Communications Advisor to MP Tama Potaka, you'll bring your political know-how and charming nature to a role that's diverse and rewarding.

You're not likely to sit behind a desk all day because you'll be out representing your MP in the community.

One day you could be building relationships with business owners or visiting the local schools. The next, you might be giving advice or having a chat with the people of your electorate.

Some responsibilities will include;

  • Developing high quality and engaging communications plans
  • Identifying and utilising media opportunities
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Liaising with key stakeholders in your electorate including arranging local clinics and events


Your friends and whānau describe you as community-minded, proactive, and willing to roll up your sleeves up and get things done.

You have a high level of empathy and cultural sensitivity and no matter who you're engaging with, you leave them feeling supported and valued.

You're happy to work autonomously and are well known for your proactive, driven, and resilient nature.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be impartial in your role. Awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

You will receive a Parliamentary Service induction which will set you up to succeed within this environment, as well as ongoing learning and development opportunities.

This role is approximately 40 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours may be required. This is an events based, fixed term role linked to the MP.

The appointing salary band for this role is $68,698 to $95,183 per annum. Appointments will be based on your skills and experience.
