**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

Ngā Pātaka Kōrero o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Libraries) has a strong community focus and we are an extraordinary destination for the people of Auckland. Our Network Library & Council Service Assistants play a vital part in our library team by providing coverage to a range of libraries across West Auckland local boards. You will be working within a library whānau that has a team culture strong in te reo and tikanga Māori, a place where everyone can feel they belong.

No two days are the same, you will greet and assist customers with a variety of queries from assisting customers to accessing library & council services, supporting with the delivery of programmes and events, digital troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, and general computer queries. The successful applicant will be based at our Otara Library.

To ensure our libraries are supported across all opening hours and days, we will need you to work Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Promote self-service options to enable customers to self-serve confidently on future occasions.
- Work confidently with new communities, supporting diverse community needs and growing cultural awareness.
- Diffuse high-tension situations appropriately and safely and escalate matters where necessary.
- Respond to internal and external customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats and develop an understanding of the standards and tenets of professional librarianship.
- Support customers to navigate complex or persistent issues and provide exceptional customer service.

- A quick learner who would be able to assist people with technology queries.
- Enjoy working with Tamariki (children) and can assist with programmes.
- Enjoy the day-to-day frontline library service and the opportunity to connect directly with our library patrons.
- Is flexible around working days and hours with availability on weekends and some late nights are required.
