Highly influential position representing and leading the membership and accreditation body for health and safety professionals in New Zealand. Support the growth of a 2700 membership-based organisation.

The New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) is New Zealand’s leading professional association for health and safety practitioners.

NZISM represent the interests of its members at Industry and Government levels, and by supporting the growth and development of members throughout New Zealand.

The not-for-profit Incorporated Society operates nationwide through a network of 14 branches, whose members support the entire spectrum of New Zealand business as either consultants or in-house advisors. The Branches and Senior Leadership Team are all comprised of volunteers operating within the Health and Safety Industry. There is a 4-person National Office team of paid staff (operating remotely).

The organisation operates an internationally aligned Professional Development Framework and Accreditation System for its members and provides a range of development opportunities through a programme of online and in person events delivered either through local branches or organised centrally.

The current CEO has successfully led the organisation through the last 6 years and is moving to an aligned role in the wider industry in the New Year. As such, the Board are now looking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer who will lead the organisation and its small team with vision and a passion to grow membership, status and ability to influence outcomes for all stakeholders and interested parties.

**Focus**
- Identifying and seizing opportunities to engage with the wider health and safety system at a strategic level, including positioning NZISM as thought leaders and essential service partners in delivery of the national Health and Safety strategy.
- Developing business cases for funding to support projects and initiatives.
- Supporting Branches to deliver topical, accessible, and professional networking, development opportunities and events to members.
- Good solid efficient administration of member services, website, accreditation, and finances.

Attributes sought include a track record of building effective relationships with government, strategic partners, members, a large volunteer leadership delivery group and all other stakeholders within local communities.

You will have proven financial and strategic acumen, along with a strong not for profit service ethos.

You will see the bigger picture, be resilient, have an energetic and enabling approach, and will understand and embrace the challenges faced.

You will be collaborative in style and be able to demonstrate your capability in leading the way for the health and safety profession and being comfortable in challenging the status quo, enabling continuous improvement and growth in these times of change.
