**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

Population Health Gain provides trusted pragmatic advice to health system decision makers with an evidence based, intelligence driven and whole of system approach to improve population level outcomes.

On a day to day basis, you will undertake analysis of population structures and trends, and will use this data to understand the impact of this on health and equity outcomes. You will be responsible for communicating and disseminating this data and your findings to stakeholders within Te Whatu Ora, ensuring that any advice and recommendations support equitable health outcomes for Māori and other priority populations.

**Mōu | About you**

You will have experience using demographic data, with a background or interest health, and ideally in equity. You will be an analytical and enthusiastic person who is able to think critically and strategically to solve problems and prioritise objectives in your work.

You will be required to work and communicate with a range of teams and audiences in this role so you will need to be an excellent communicator who is able to engage with stakeholders across the organisation and sector. Your stakeholders will range in their understanding of population concepts and data, so it is vital that you're able to communicate in a way that is relevant to, and can be understood, by your audience.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification.
- An understanding of the Māori Data Governance Model (Te Kāhui Raraunga) or willingness to develop in this area.
- Experience in the use of the health service user dataset.
- Experience in the use of national collections datsets.
- Skills in using statistical software (e.g. SAS, R).
- Experience using and analysing data from the New Zealand Census and associated population estimates and projections.
- Experience in collating, cleaning, assembling and analysing data, and producing appropriate reports and summaries.
- Experience in assessing for error and limitations in data and using statistical methods to supplement missing data.
- Experience at drawing on a range of inputs including evidence from a range of sources.
