**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Te Whatu Ora Improve business unit takes a whole-system, consumer and whānau-centred and equity led approach to accelerate improvement and innovation, underpinned by best evidence, data and evaluation.

The primary purpose of the National Innovation Systems & Change Manager role is to design, implement, monitor and evaluate innovation programmes to improve equity and outcomes, improve consumer and whānau experience, reduce unwarranted variation, improve quality and safety. You will also oversee the acceleration of the implementation and scaling-up of health innovation initiatives and system change for identifying, prioritising and supporting the testing and scaling of innovative technologies and solutions, and you will work to build capability in design thinking, design methodologies, innovation ideation, prototyping and scaling.

In this role you will be responsible for a multi-disciplinary team of clinical, informatic, business analytics and digital design leaders tasked with identifying and adopting best practice advice about innovation in healthcare and related fields to inform innovation strategy and programme development.

The National Innovation Systems & Change Manager will keep up to date on the latest advancements in health technology, digital health, telemedicine, and other relevant areas, and provides thought leadership to drive innovation within the organisation.

**Mōu | About you**

You will have experience working as a senior leader within a clinical innovation and improvement environment with excellent knowledge of innovation in healthcare, innovation trends and methods, and approaches to implement and scale innovation technologies and solutions. In addition to this knowledge you will have experience in successfully identifying and prioritising innovation ideas, and designing, testing and scaling health innovation initiatives.

You will be able to describe how you will gain broad organisational stakeholder buy-in to innovation programmes and initiatives, and how you will build and maintain strategic partnerships with external organisations, start-ups, and academic institutions to support the design, testing, adaption and scaling of innovation across Te Whatu Ora._ _

- Significant experience and expertise in leading improvement and innovation teams, senior clinicians and managers to build capability, improvement leadership and lifting performance of teams/units.
- An ability to work within and across matrixed and interconnected teams to deliver work and achieve group objectives and outcomes.
- Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining and influencing effective relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific people and groups.
- An ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long term outcomes and develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Experience developing and implementing effective group strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
- An ability to stimulate creative ideas and perspectives that add value.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
