**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Te Whatu Ora Improve business unit takes a whole-system, consumer and whānau-centred and equity led approach to accelerate improvement and innovation, underpinned by best evidence, data and evaluation.

In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of improvement and innovation programme and project managers tasked with ensuring the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of national regional and local improvement and innovation programmes and projects are effectively managed.

The team will partner with national, regional and local leaders to support the effective management of initiatives that improve equity of access and outcomes, improve consumer and whānau experience, reduce unwarranted variation, improve quality and safety and advance sustainability.

The Improvement and Innovation Manager will lead care design, planning and implementation of improvement programmes and projects for Te Whatu Ora that align to the organisation's goal and the priorities of Te Pae Tata.

To succeed in this role you will be an experienced leader with quality improvement and innovation expertise in healthcare. You will be able to demonstrate proven results for leading continuous improvement and innovation initiatives in a complex environment, managing programmes that are aligned with strategic objectives and deliver sustained longer term improvements based on comprehensive analysis.

You will have a track record for building and leading high performing teams and building effective relationships and partnerships within and across organisations.You will be skilled at establishing and maintaining effective processes and procedures to facilitate programme and project management.

- Significant experience and expertise in leading improvement and innovation teams, senior clinicians and managers, managing multiple projects and teams and building capability, improvement leadership and lifting performance of teams/units.
- Ability to work within and across matrixed and interconnected teams to deliver work and achieve group objectives and outcomes.
- Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining and influencing effective relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific people and groups.
- Demonstrates ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long term outcomes and develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Experience developing and implementing effective group strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
