**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Population Health Gain function has been established to provide trusted pragmatic advice to health system decision makers with an evidence based, intelligence driven and whole of system approach to improve population level outcomes.

In this role, your primary purpose will be to understand, estimate, model and project the populations and associated population health measures tailored to the heath sector as well as the communication and dissemination of this to stakeholders. You will also be responsible for developing creative solutions to data analysis and demographic modelling problems.

**Mōu | About you**

You will have high level of experience in all things demographic. Ideally, you will also have a proven track record of leading in this field, analyzing and providing advice and insights into economic, cultural, political and environmental factors that affect population trends. You are at ease developing and managing multiple projects at one time, and driving negotiations and relationships with stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities are essential.

**Ka kawea e koe | You will bring**:

- A relevant graduate or post-graduate qualification.
- An understanding of the Māori Data Governance Model (Te Kāhui Raraunga) or willingness to develop in this area.
- Skills in using statistical software (e.g. SAS, R).
- Experience using and analysing data from the New Zealand Census and associated population estimates and projections
- Experience in collating, cleaning, assembling and analysing data, and producing appropriate reports and summaries.
- Experience in assessing for error and limitations in data and using statistical methods to supplement missing data.
- Experience at drawing on a range of inputs including evidence from a range of sources.
- Experience of developing projects which involved working with a range of people from different professional and technical disciplines.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
