**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Te Whatu Ora Improve business unit takes a whole-system, consumer and whānau-centred and equity led approach to accelerate improvement and innovation, underpinned by best evidence, data and evaluation.
The primary purpose of the National Innovation Progamme Manager role is to accelerate the implementation and scaling-up of health innovation initiatives including a national strategic innovation programme and innovative technologies and solutions, embed a culture of system innovation design thinking (awareness and readiness) for sustaining and expanding innovation technologies and solutions across the organization, and build innovation resources and team capabilities across Te Whatu Ora.
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing a team of project managers, clinical advisors and improvement designers tasked with ensuring service design (including co-design) implementation, monitoring and evaluation for a range of strategic innovation projects.
The National Innovation Programme Manager will ensure key project milestones and deliverables improve equity of access and outcomes, improve consumer and whānau experience, reduce unwarranted variation, improve quality and safety.
**Mōu | About you**
You will have experience working at a senior leadership level within a clinical innovation and improvement environment. You will be able to demonstrate how you have applied research, analysis of market trends and emerging technologies, and improvement and innovation methods, to identify and support innovation in healthcare.
Through your experience you will be able to describe how you have designed and delivered improvement and innovation initiatives using digital technologies and successfully managed strategic portfolios and programmes in an innovation environment. Knowledge and skills in healthcare innovation approaches and trends and experience in leading and teaching innovation design thinking, codesign and design methods, are important to this role, along with a proven track record of working effectively with clinicians and networks to design, test and scale innovation.

- Significant experience and expertise in leading improvement and innovation teams, senior clinicians and managers to build capability, improvement leadership and lifting performance of teams/units.
- An ability to work within and across matrixed and interconnected teams to deliver work and achieve group objectives and outcomes.
- Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining and influencing effective relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific people and groups.
- An ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long term outcomes and develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Experience developing and implementing effective group strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives.
- An ability to stimulate creative ideas and perspectives that add value.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
