**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Te Whatu Ora Improve business unit takes a whole-system, consumer and whānau-centred and equity led approach to accelerate improvement and innovation, underpinned by best evidence, data and evaluation.

The primary purpose of the Group Manager Improvement and Innovation Capability and International Collaborations is to lead the design and delivery of improvement and innovation training in a way that seeks to ensure that our health workforce have the resources and capabilities to deliver quality and safe health care to our communities, achieve equity across population groups and improve health outcomes for people.

As part of this purpose you will lead the design and implementation of a unified improvement and innovation training and development strategy and programmes. You will assess the organisation's current capabilities for health improvement and innovation, align current programmes, and identify gaps and areas for improvement. You will lead the development of training programmes to grow workforce talent in improvement and innovation across Te Whatu Ora. In this role you will also need to establish sustainable international improvement and innovation collaborations and relationships.

You will be responsible for overseeing a team of clinical experts and improvement advisors, tasked with advancing the development of improvement and innovation leaders and building leadership capability in care redesign, service optimisation and continuous quality improvement and innovation to achieve Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all New Zealanders.

**Mōu | About you**

You will have demonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of improvement and innovation training strategies and programmes across a large organisation working within a clinical innovation and improvement training or similar environment. An excellent understanding of improvement and innovation methods, skills, and tools, and the importance of Te Tiriti obligations, Te Ao Māori frameworks and mataranga Maori concepts in building improvement and innovation capability and advancing Māori aspirations and outcomes, is essential for this role. You will be experienced in leading the development and delivery of improvement and innovation training programmes, and engaging and leading professional teams across a large organisation.

Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific peoples and groups is essential along with a proven track record in establishing strong partnerships and collaboration with academic institutions and external organisations to build improvement and innovation and leadership capability.

- Knowledge of New Zealand health legislation and sector
- Significant experience and expertise in leading the development and implementation of improvement and innovation training strategies/frameworks and programmes
- Experience and expertise in leading highly skilled, high performing and engaged management and professional teams in a multi-faceted and demanding environment, leading improvement and innovation teams, building capability and leadership and lifting performance of teams/unitsProven experience navigating change and transformation in complex environments, bringing people along with the vision
- An ability to work within and across matrixed and interconnected teams to deliver work and achieve group objectives and outcomes
- Experience developing and implementing effective group strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives
- Experience and skills in leading the development and establishment of collaborations and relationships with national and international organisations to advance improvement, innnovation and leadership
- A graduate and/or postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to health leadership improvement and innovation, or comparable experience working at a management level.
