Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do

As an Information Analyst you will be working within the Suicide Prevention Office, with support from with a team of analysts working with health and disability data available across the health sector, as well as clinical supervision given the data collections you will be working with.

You will be assisting the Suicide Prevention Office to design, develop and implement a real-time surveillance of suspected self-inflicted death (suspected suicide) system.

You will be an integral part of the team analysing and interpreting those data for the purposes of suicide prevention.

You will develop specialist knowledge about data collections relevant to suicide prevention, so that you can help others to understand how they can use the data for research and to inform evidence-based decision making.

You will assist in deciding whether it is appropriate and legally possible to share data with external agencies, which will require knowledge of data ethics and health information privacy.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring

  • Excellent team working skills including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Experience in analysing and presenting analysis and data to suit a variety of audiences (technical and nontechnical
  • Demonstrated ability to work with data using software such as R, R Shiny, SQL, SAS, and / or other software
  • Ability to extract and manipulate data. Experience working with large administrative datasets is an advantage.
  • Adaptability able to adjust to changes in work practices and to deal with competing demands and priorities
  • A commitment to equity, an understanding of Te Ao Māori, and commitment to abiding by the principles and processes set out by Te Mana Rauranga
  • Knowledge of the Official Information act, Health Information Privacy Code, and the suicide prevention sector is desirable but not required.
