**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The primary purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and delivery, in workforce planning and development, with a specific focus on meeting the needs and aspirations of the Māori workforce. This role supports the “locality” aspect of the health reforms.
**Mōu | About you**
Provide matauranga and tīkanga Māori leadership, credibility and expertise to the Te Whatu Ora Workforce Planning and Development Team, model the ability to “walk in both worlds” as part of a vision for the future of Aotearoa and in particular, the health workforce of Aotearoa. Engage with communities, Māori Workforce Leads, and other stakeholders Iwi Māori Partnership Board (IMPBs) to understand their workforce needs and aspirations.
Coordinate a localised team (matrixed organisation with the Workforce Leads), to support the delivery of National programmes, locally (15 across Aotearoa). Partner with Te Aka Whai Ora (or equivalent) to support equity and Pae Ora for Māori in our health system. Provide strategic advice on kaupapa Māori frameworks and processes in contributing to workforce planning strategies that promote recruitment and retention of Māori kaimahi.

- An appropriate tertiary level professional/Te Ao Māori qualification and/or significant relevant work experience.
- Can demonstrate they have given meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their position(s)/at a leadership level (i.e., Experience in providing strategic leadership and Māori cultural advice in the public sector.)
- Strong experience engaging with iwi, hapū, whānau and hapori Māori.
- Experience of the New Zealand health and disability sector, is desirable.
