**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The success of the Te Whatu Ora Workforce Strategy relies on quality. The Principal Advisor leads the translation of strategic policy into high quality operational policy. This includes the design and development of the systems, methodologies, tools, guidance, and policy instruments required to translate policy into operational practice.

The Principal Advisor is a key senior role in the Workforce Planning and Development function, providing thought leadership, advice and support to the leadership team and other colleagues across the business unit.

**Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience**

The key skills and experience we are looking for include (but not limited to):

- A background in workforce, social sector or economic policy, operations, analytics, consultancy. Labour policy and/or or labour data analytics experience is desirable.
- Experience at providing strategic advice and providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective delivery of programmes and initiatives
- Experience with developing, implementing, and overseeing effective strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives. Has a continuous improvement mindset
- Can demonstrate they have given meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their position(s)/at a leadership level. Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
