**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

This role sits in the Office of the Chief People Officer which is to enable the delivery of Te Pae Tata by bringing together all parts of the organisation to support ‘the system' to operate at its best, to develop the capability and agility of the workforce, and to help employees understand, embed and deliver on Te Whatu Ora's vision, purpose, values, and priorities.

The primary focus of this Principal Advisor role is to support the analysis and forecasting of labour market trends and dynamics within the healthcare sector to inform workforce planning and decision-making. This role will:

- develop strategic advice for executives, Board and Ministers on workforce interventions to maximise value for money for Vote Health investment.
- analyse workforce supply trends, including education and immigration contributors
- analyse workforce demand trends, including working with Commissioning and Hospital and Specialist Services teams to understand workforce demand pressures and shifts over time, including accounting for changes to service delivery models and models of care in our workforce need
- lead work to redesign workforce supply settings to achieve sustainable future growth
- support service delivery model work across Te Whatu Ora to maximise workforce use; and
- develop advice.

The key skills and experience we are looking for include (but not limited to):

- A background in workforce, social sector or economic policy, operations, analytics, consultancy. Labour policy and/or or labour data analytics experience is desirable.
- Experience at providing strategic advice and providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective delivery of programmes and initiatives
- Experience with developing, implementing, and overseeing effective strategies and work plans that deliver on organisational objectives. Has a continuous improvement mindset
- Can demonstrate they have given meaningful effect to the expectations outlined in Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their position(s)/at a leadership level. Previous responsibility at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
