We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist-preferred or Occupational Therapist to lead an innovative group of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Needs Assessors that provide inpatient rehabilitation to older people. This role is part of Adult rehabilitation and Health of Older People (ARHOP) and is based in Middlemore Hospital. This is a fixed term position until December 2023.
As the Section Head, you will be the lead driver of this group of professionals to ensure that service expectations are met with a focus on the people we care for. You will be part of a team that takes an inter-disciplinary approach to care, working alongside other clinical leaders and senior management to ensure a high standard of care is provided at all times. This is a unique opportunity to extend and develop your management and leadership experience.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills, you will bring an innovative approach to resolving issues and work well in an IDT environment. You will be involved in the supervision and development of rotational staff, rehab assistants and allied health students. There is scope for involvement in service development, staff education, and quality improvement.
We are committed to your continuing professional development through supervision, support and formal/informal training. You will be supported by 2 other Section heads in the service. You will receive orientation to this role and have opportunities to attend training to support your learning needs.
If you are a NZ registered Physiotherapist (preferred) or Occupational therapist, with an understanding of health of older people and looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.
**Essential**:
- New Zealand registered Physiotherapist or Occupational therapist
- A minimum of five years clinical experience in a relevant area of practice.
- Recent experience working in rehabilitation
- Experience working with junior clinicians and/or students
- Full NZ driver's licence
**Desired**:
- Experience in managing/co-ordinating a health team
- Post Graduate qualification or equivalent in relevant clinical area
- Experience with health of older people
