- Support implementation and operation of our ICT investment framework
- Maintain and update investment planning and supporting documentation
Provide ICT investment planning support & coordination in support of ICT capability building to achieve strategic business objectives.
Transpower is the commercially focused and regulated State-Owned Enterprise that owns and operates the National Grid. At the very heart of the energy sector, we transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution companies who deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.

About the team
The Investment Planning team ensures that ICT investments are aligned with Transpower's corporate strategy and business goals and deliver the appropriate return. This is done through the implementation and operation of our ICT Investment Framework, which includes:
- Delivering and maintaining investment cases
- Managing investment governance
- Preparing the ICT contribution to regulatory submissions

Reporting to and working with our IST Investment Planning Manager, you'll support the implementation and operation of our ICT Investment Framework and associated artefacts by planning and scheduling prescribed engagements, consolidating stakeholder inputs and feedback, and updating planning documentation.
Collaborating with business owners, finance, and project delivery teams to maintain a current state/single source truth of ICT investment portfolios, you'll seek to understand and analyse investment funding allocations, funding requirements, affordability, and challenges.
You will co-ordinate the transition from long to short-term planning cycles and update investment briefs, whilst reporting on the health status of planning documentation.
With a continuous improvement mind-set, you will work within our strategies and policies which guide our investment categories but look to improve processes and ways of working. Whilst maintaining a line of sight of all IST investment planning artefacts and supporting documentation, you'll ensure standardisation and identify improvements as you review maintain, update, and further develop templates for:
- key planning documents
- investment cases
- sub strategies
- investment briefs
What will you bring?
To be considered, you'll hold a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., commerce, business, engineering, or science) and have an astute relationship management ability. Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
- Experience in a supporting strategic financial planning and/or a financial delivery role (e.g., Financial Analyst or Planner, Project/Programme Co-ordinator, Demand Planning etc.)
- Strong communication and presentation skills including developing material for a wide variety of stakeholders
- Comfort when using the Microsoft Office suite (Excel at advanced level, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams)
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex financial and project data
- Some understanding of, or experience working with, reporting tools like Power BI
- While not essential, a general understanding of the nature and design of the electricity industry's core business processes and ICT industry trends would be advantageous.
