We are looking to recruit for multiple roles at Policy Analyst, Senior Policy Analyst and Chief Policy Analyst levels in the Māori Education Policy team to contribute to the development of policy in some high profile, new and challenging areas.

We need analysts who are committed to ākonga Māori and their whānau across the entire education system.

In particular, your work will contribute to potential significant education reforms arising from Ka Hikitia (the Māori Education Strategy) and Tau Mai Te Reo (the Māori Language in Education Strategy).

It is anticipated that one of these roles will be specifically focusing on kaupapa Māori and te reo Māori policy development.

  • For the
    Chief Policy Analyst role, we are looking for someone who can provide thought leadership about the education system within a cross government context, has broad policy experience, holds a solutionsfocussed outlook, and really enjoys mentoring others. Having an applied understanding of Te Tiriti and its role in policy development is essential.

- are a critical thinker and can bring innovative Māori approaches to complex policy issues;

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.

Māori Policy team focuses on ensuring that Māori are enjoying and achieving education success as Māori, so they develop the skills to participate in te ao Māori, Aotearoa and the wider world.

This includes a focus on growing te reo Māori through education and growing education through te reo Māori to protect and promote e reo Māori for future generations.
