At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance.

We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
Te Pou Hauora Māori | the Māori Health Directorate is a core part of Manatū Hauora. Our purpose is to act as kaitiaki (chief steward) to protect, promote and improve Māori health and wellbeing.

We set the strategic direction for the health system to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieve equitable outcomes for Māori to achieve pae ora, healthy futures for Māori.

Ko ake mahi - What you'll do

Te Pou Hauora Māori is looking for a Senior Policy Analyst to join the Strategy and Policy team to ensure that all parts of the system are working well with and for iwi and Māori to deliver quality care in ways that enable Māori to flourish.


This includes leading the implementation of Pae Tū:

Hauora Māori Strategy 2023 and Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan Our team's work and influence is dynamic and wide-reaching, meaning you will be contributing to a wide variety of kaupapa.

As Senior Policy Analyst, you will lead and contribute to the development and delivery of quality policy advice, strategy development and implementation.

There will be ample opportunities for you to work through the full policy process and lead complex and challenging policy initiatives in collaboration with others to drive health system change for Māori.

This is a driven, dynamic, and supportive team where building trusting and productive relationships across the Ministry, health sector, government, with Māori and other stakeholders is highly valued.

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of public policy and the machinery of government
  • Demonstrated knowledge of political administrative processes and structures
