At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We are looking for a
senior policy analyst and a
policy analyst to join our
Early Childhood Education Policy team.

Funding Policy team.
These teams are high performing and have delivered on significant government priorities over the last few years:
- The Early Childhood Education Policy team focuses on the funding system for early childhood services. Current key projects include reviewing equity-focused funding, achieving pay parity for teachers in education and care services, and co-designing a funding model with Playcentre Aotearoa. We also work in a Treaty-based way with Te Kõhanga Reo National Trust and Ngā Puna Reo o Aotearoa to support and grow kaupapa Mãori early learning.
- The Funding Policy team drives the Ministry's advice on funding levers across the schooling sector. The team is currently embarking on a large and highprofile work programme to review school staffing, supporting a Ministerial Advisory Group that will determine what mix of skills and staffing we need in our changing schooling system. We also lead work on international students in the education system and have ongoing work to improve other supports for learners. We work with teams across the Ministry, from data analytics through to operational delivery, on a wide range of funding dimensions, and our work makes a real, positive difference for children and young people in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Policy Analyst: $71,859 to $86,939 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. - Senior

$96,598 to $139,573 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.

Senior Policy Analyst role, we are looking for someone with several years of policy experience, committed to developing evidence-based analysis and advice.
Mātau rōpū ake | About our ministry, group, and team
Te Pou Kaupapahere is the Ministry's policy group with a whole-of-system focus covering early learning, compulsory schooling, and tertiary. This includes Māori medium, Kaupapa Māori, Pacific and Learning Support.
We provide advice to enable an education system which contributes to the skills and knowledge needed by people for social, cultural, economic and environmental wellbeing.
