About the role
The Clubs and Ranges Regional Advisor is accountable for visiting, auditing, educating and enforcing clubs and ranges nationally.

This includes providing advice and expertise to stakeholders, communities and operational staff.

They will visit clubs and ranges to assess, educate, investigate and delivery compliance to ensure they are compliant to the agreed upon standard and, where necessary, undertake regulatory activities.


They will work in conjunction with the wider Te Tari Püreke - Firearms Safety Authority across New Zealand, as well as with external partners and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Have a good understanding of the Arms Act, Arms Regulations, Shooting Range Manual, guidance documents and other support material.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills to elicit accurate information and provide information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop and maintain high level of interviewing skills. Use communication effectively to present written material, including reports and correspondence where requested.
  • Possess a high level of critical thinking and sound judgement
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity

Special requirements and Additional Information:

  • Pool vehicle is available to use for travel required to travel domestically within New Zealand and must have a full drivers license.
  • Primary work location will be Hamilton Central Police Station
  • Must have current appropriate level of NZ Certificate in Regulatory Compliance, or ability to acquire.
  • Must be a Trained Shooting Range Inspector recognised by Te Tari Püreke (capable of acquiring)
  • Must have experience in Firearms / Ballistic Adult Education delivery.
  • Must be available to work shift requirements (estimated monthly weekend work and overnight time away during work week).
