Our Democracy Advisors are multi-talented individuals who provide specialist professional services to elected members and council staff, supporting a range of governance activities including the oversight of governance meetings and statutory hearings.

**Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • You will organise and manage governance meetings and statutory hearings
  • You will use a number of software platforms to create governance documents, to run meetings partially in person and partially online and to manage financial matters
  • You will complete agendas, minutes, reports and memoranda to a high standard
  • You will confidently display good judgement and discretion when advising our elected and appointed members on meeting processes and legislative requirements
  • You will be a supportive team player who communicates respectfully.

Mō te tangata | About you

  • You will have experience in local government in a similar role, or be able to demonstrate transferable skills
  • You will understand the neutrality and diplomacy required to work in a political environment
  • You will have a high degree of emotional intelligence and work well in a team


You will be able to write accurate and informative reports to a high standard that assists decision makers to make robust defendable decisions.

  • You will have a degree level qualification (or transferrable demonstratable skills) and a full clean drivers licence.
