  • This position would suit someone who: _
- _Currently studying environmental engineering, geology, hydrology, geography, earth or environmental science, geographic information systems, or other related field at Under Graduate Level or Post Graduate/4 _th _year (Desirable). _
- _Has an interest in the natural hazards and resilience. _
- _Has skills in GIS systems/ Computational/data analysis skills and the ability to disseminate complex information. _
- _Full drivers licence.

_The Regional Resilience team at the Waikato Regional Council is looking for a summer student with a passion for ensuring that we are resilient to the challenges nature throws at us, and have the best tools to inform the public and bounce back after an event.

_The position will focus on assisting the busy Regional Resilience team covering range of areas below: _

_The role covers a range of areas including: _

_Emergency response _

_o __Flood alarm survey _**
_o __Review of alarm contacts _**-
_Resilient development _

_o __Reviewing and organising hazard spatial layers with the aim of better informing the public _**
_o __Providing the public, developers, and territorial authorities with flood hazard information, including the interpretation of hydraulic modelling _**
_o __Compiling and refining hazard information _**-
_Assisting the Regional Resilience team as required. _

_Assist with culvert / bridge consents _
- **_Assist with general hazard requests
- **
_This role is for approximately 3 months, starting in early-mid November 2023 and ending __Mid February _**_. _
