Mō te tūnga | About the role

As the People and Capability Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the leaders and staff across the College to deliver the strategic objectives of the People and Capability function. This position requires a high level of integrity, as you will often work with sensitive and confidential information.

Reports to

Director Finance and Operations.

Direct Reports

People and Capability Administrator.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership
  • Support the development and implementation of People and Capability strategies to achieve the College's goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on key People and Capability programmes and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance People and Capability processes and services.
  • Contribute to College-wide projects related to organizational development, process improvement, and service reviews.
Operational Management
  • Manage the People and Capability Administrator to ensure effective delivery of core functions including:
    • Staff recruitment and onboarding.
    • Organisational development.
    • Performance management.
    • Employee relations, policies, and compliance.
    • Payroll services.
    • Staff wellbeing (in collaboration with the Wellbeing team).
    • Health and safety (in collaboration with Operations).
  • Oversee day-to-day People and Capability operations.
  • Manage employee data and records.
  • Provide guidance to leadership and staff on people-related matters.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.

To be successful in this role you will be someone who thrives in a busy and dynamic environment where no two days are the same. You will have at least two years prior experience in a similar role and familiarity and experience with New Zealand's employment laws and regulations is a necessary requirement.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in People and Capability or related field.
  • Relevant People and Capability experience.
  • Proven track record in partnering with leadership and in People and Capability operations.
  • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Organized with great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to an inclusive workplace that value and respects all individuals.

Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate outstanding organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and an ability to prioritise and multitask. You will have a can-do approach, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to collaborate and build relationships across the wider College team. You will be a strong self-starter with an ability to work unsupervised and deliver results. Superior use of Microsoft technologies will be a given as is your ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in dealing with sensitive and private information.
