About the role
The Great Catering Company is seeking a talented Sales and Events Manager to join our well established team. In this newly created full-time role, you will be responsible for the sales process, coordination and execution of both delivered catering and event function catering for our client, the University of Auckland. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your event planning expertise and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
- Proactively generate new business opportunities and manage the end-to-end sales process for catering and events at the University of Auckland
- Manage and co-ordinate a high volume e-commerce system for delivered catering
- Plan and execute events of varying scales, from small meetings to large-scale conferences and gala dinners
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with University of Auckland staff, understanding their needs and delivering exceptional customer service
- Effectively coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure seamless event delivery
- Monitor budgets and maximise profitability for each delivery and event
- Identify and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and quality of our event services
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a sales or event management role, ideally within the hospitality or higher education sectors
- Proven track record of successfully driving sales and delivering high-profile events
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Strong budgeting and financial management capabilities
- Enthusiasm for the hospitality industry and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service
