We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our newly created People & Culture Hub and provide expert HR advice and support to a diverse range of leaders.
This role provides critical Human Resources advice and support to managers, team leaders, and supervisors across the Department.
This is a fixed term opportunity until July 2025.
Key ResponsibilitiesProviding timely and efficient advice on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Assist in resolving employment disputes and offer support for performance assessments.Contributing to the development and application of HR policies and procedures, while participating in change management and improvement initiatives.Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives and public sector agencies.Managing HR tasks proactively, escalating issues when necessary and ensuring compliance with DOC's standards.Collaborating with Senior HR Advisors to update and develop role descriptions as needed.Skills and ExperienceA solid understanding of human resources, employment legislation, and best practices.Ability to analyse situations and provide practical solutions to HR challenges.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.A tertiary qualification in HR, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.Proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and with external stakeholders.Understanding of the Maori-Crown relationship and ability to integrate te reo and tikanga Maori in daily work.DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 - $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment. Due to high volumes, we are not engaging with recruitment agencies for this role.
