Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Business Specialist at Toitū Te Whenua you play a central role across your team by providing end-to-end seamless, professional support, planning and advice.
You are proactive and able to skilfully manage multiple deadlines and priorities to ensure the best outcome in each situation.
Your experience in planning and organisational skills mean you see potential challenges and risks before they become issues. You build collaborative and positive working relationships across the wider business and are an active member of the Business Specialist network.
We have positions available in our Business and Commercial and Strategy Policy and Ministerial groups. These groups are designed to be influential centralised groups that support the whole of Toitū Te Whenua to be effective.
Business and Commercial works across Toitū Te Whenua to support the achievement of our strategic priorities and provide essential business operations, including accounts payable and receivable, procurement, management accounting and financial accounting support and facilities management. It supports our leaders and business groups to plan, perform and achieve our outcomes and deliver government priorities and core business.
Strategy Policy and Ministerials works for the benefit of all New Zealanders and our whenua, moana and arawai by advising decision-makers, including the Minister for Land Information and internal stakeholders, to help them think about complex policy issues and navigate challenges. Sharing data and insights to enable evidence-based, customer-centric and effective decision-making; and providing coordination to ensure consistency and timeliness of Ministerial and government servicing.
Our Business Specialist roles support this through providing seamless administrative support, planning, and advice to a range of people and processes across our group, including Head of (Tier 3) and Leader (Tier 4) roles. This includes:

- Arranging meetings and events
- Sorting out travel
- Organising invitations
- Catering
- Setting up rooms
- Identifying efficiencies and driving improvements

You will also have the opportunity to support people related processes like recruitment and induction of new staff as well as supporting business planning and financial processes by administering team business plans and organising purchase orders and processing expense claims.

He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone who has proven successful experience in administration roles, with super-star organisation skills who will deliver proactive and customer-focussed service. You'll have strong attention to detail and be able to prioritise tasks effectively to achieve multiple demands. A strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills, you will be comfortable working with a range of peers and leaders.
Having experienced a range of computer and technology systems, including the full suite of Microsoft Office products, your ability to adapt and learn our current systems and processes will be a key strength. As will be identifying and implementing any improvements in how we undertake our mahi.
The expected appointment range for this role is $67,093 - $90,773.
