**Nau mai kia tau mai...**
Te Aka Whai Ora is a connection to the Māori ancestral world and a firm vision towards a healthy future for all.
- **_Te Aka_** speaks to the endeavour to seek ancestral knowledge.
- **_Whai Ora_** is to pursue health
In the pūrakau (ancient legend), when Tāwhaki ascended into heaven to attain the three baskets of knowledge, he also collected two mauri stones named ‘Hōkai nuku' and ‘Hōkai rangi'. These stones were seen as supporting the three baskets of knowledge, with one having the ability to look back into the past, while the other provided a vision into the future.
Te Aka Whai Ora and all its communities, whānau, and health providers are likened to Tāwhaki in seeking out ora or health and wellbeing. As we navigate through our initial years of work, together with our partner Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ we represent a new and exciting future for health where we can achieve better health outcomes and wellbeing for all our people - _whakahiko i te oranga whānau_
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make the change that ensures we build on foundations set by those who have come before us, as we carry this mahi into the future.
We need people to join us on this growth journey as we create a 'future fit' team dedicated to ensuring we weave together our knowledge and skills in a combined effort to reach Te Pae Tawhiti, our Vision our Destination.
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The System Strategy and Policy Directorate has been established to ensure that Te Aka Whai Ora is influential in shaping hauora Māori policy within Aotearoa for generations to come.
This is a pivotal role for the Directorate where you will support three of our busy General Managers to be effective in their daily activities through:
- Providing executive, administrative and secretarial support
- Ensuring inbox and diary management is coordinated and dealing with diary conflicts and prioritising workflow
- Coordinating and working effectively with other business support roles to best support the Directorate and contribute to organisation wide initiatives
- Contributing to effective management of activities and operations in Directorate work areas.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
Success in this role will see you bring a good mix of specialist skills and experience such as;
- Previous experience in an Executive Assistant or high level coordination role providing support to senior leaders
- Demonstrated experience in a medium to large complex organisation, or other government agency
- Advanced skills in the MS Office Suite with special emphasis on Outlook, SharePoint & Microsoft Teams
- Excellent organisational skills along with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving the highest levels of accuracy and confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the capacity to manage relationships at various levels
- Being a great team player with a great sense of humor and aroha
- Willingness to personally take a stand for equity and anti-racism.
**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**
We acknowledge and respect our people's diversity and spiritual needs; we are committed to ensuring a safe workplace that is whānau orientated and supportive.
**Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei | Work that suits today's ever-changing world**
We believe that at the heart of Te Aka Whai Ora is our people working together, as we navigate through our initial years of work that we work in a way that suits today's ever changing world - ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao Hurihuri nei.
We supportflexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi.
