Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role

The Readiness Group's mission is to ensure MPI has the people, resources, processes and systems to manage all threats to the biosecurity and primary production systems. The Group contributes to a programme of work which focuses on improving our overall readiness capability and developing and maintaining generic readiness to support and enable all readiness and response activities.

**In this role you'll**:

- Provide project and programme coordination for a range of projects and activities across the Readiness Group.
- Support the planning of the annual work programme.
- Lead the overall coordination, monitoring and reporting of the Readiness Group work programme.
- Ensure the ongoing evaluation of activities by using regular monitoring, assessment and reporting with the results used to drive improvement.
- Support the Manager, Readiness with information, analysis and advice to enable the team to carry out its mandate and drive operational excellence.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Up to five years' experience in project or programme planning, monitoring, risk mitigation, on time delivery and reporting.
- Have a graduate qualification in a relevant discipline
- Experience working to diverse and challenging governance groups
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence.
- Experience in working in a New Zealand Government agency (central, regional or other).
- Proven ability to participate as a member of a team in ambiguous work environments.
- A strong interest in project management is key to this role, as you will tracking projects and developing reporting for the group.
- A hands-on and proactive approach is crucial in this position.

Biosecurity New Zealand has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders. Along with preparing for and responding to biosecurity incursions, it also manages border and compliance activities, diagnostics and surveillance activities and MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination group.

Readiness and Response Services is a directorate that forms part of the Biosecurity New Zealand Branch and is responsible for bringing together critical capability to effectively prepare and manage responses, and to co-ordinate recovery and long-term management activities. As a directorate we work across the biosecurity systems.
