**Salary details**:PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical MECA + KiwiSaver**An exciting opportunity is available for a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician to join our laboratory team working in Histology/Cytology department.**This role sits within either the Medical Laboratory Scientist or Non-Degree Technical career framework on a step appropriate to registration status, skills and experience.**

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have a part-time role for a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician in the Histology/Cytology Department of the laboratory service. This is a fixed term role through to 31 October 2024. You will be working in our Histology/Cytology department to ensure a high standard of work in all aspects of Anatomical Pathology. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Scientist or Technician looking to progress their career with experience in a tertiary hospital laboratory setting.
- Key responsibilities of the role:
- Pre-analytical preparation of samples from the human body for laboratory investigation or requiring return to patient-
- Processing of clinical samples, as appropriate to role, using histology/cytology techniques-
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment and quality assurance-

- Our team of pathologists, scientists and technicians are located within Waikato Hospital and is supported by a modern, well equipped histology and cytology laboratory. We have access to a wide range of diagnostic stains and techniques. The Waikato Hospital Anatomical Pathology Laboratory processes over 18,000 surgical cases per year and over 2,200 cytology cases per year.
