**About the role**

Medical Laboratory Scientists within the Blood Bank are responsible for performing a range of duties related to pre transfusion, antenatal and diagnostic testing and the issue of blood and blood products for clinical purposes.

Waikato Blood bank additionally performs some dispensing of products to outpatients and some tissue banking processes.

This role is a full time position with 80 hours per fortnight.

**About you**

To be successful in this role you must be registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ, or you will be seeking to complete your intern requirements before registration with NZMLSB. You will have a positive attitude, and the flexibility to fully participate in our 24-hour, 7-day roster.

We are looking for someone with:

- Experience in transfusion science or a related discipline
- Experience working in a Blood Bank would be preferred, but not essential
- Flexibility to fully participate in our 24-hour, 7-day roster
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude
- Self-motivated
- Willing to take responsibility
