We have a Permanent and Fixed term position (80 hours/fortnight) role available for a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in the specimen registration department of the laboratory.

Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service


Specimen registration involves registering specimens on our LIS (Laboratory Information System), triaging specimens for priority, centrifuging and aliquoting specimens if required.

We have a close working relationship with all other laboratory departments.


Once you are fully trained, you will be required to work all rostered shifts over a 24 hour period, including weekends.

Required skills & experience you will need to be consider for this role:

  • Good command of the English language
  • Keyboard skills
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • Able to prioritise work functions
To be successful, you must be registered with the NZ Medical Science Council, or be eligible to be registered.

Previous work experience in a medical laboratory would be an advantage.
