**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The role is based in the Haematology Laboratory at Waikato Hospital where you will work as part of a dedicated team of scientists, technicians and clinical staff. Together we provide a comprehensive pathology service ensuring a standard of high quality is maintained at all times. Staff are actively encouraged to take up opportunities for advancement and specialise in particular areas of interest.
- Key responsibilities of the role:
- Provide quality diagnostic analysis and reporting-
- Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment and quality assurance-
- Participation in the out of hours roster including regular rostered overnight shifts covering the core lab. Training in core Biochemistry will be undertaken.-

- Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

- Previous medical laboratory experience would be an advantage-
- Proficiency in time management and the ability to work independently is requiredThe successful applicant will need to be registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.

- Waikato Hospital Laboratory is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory servicing Hamilton city and the wider Te Manawa Taki region through one main central laboratory and four satellite laboratories. Strong collaboration with the regions private laboratories also exists. The Haematology laboratory is a modern, well-equipped laboratory providing core services as well as specialist testing within the flow cytometry, coagulation and special haematology areas.
