Ngā kawenga | About the role
Our Organisational Resilience and Safety group's main goal is to make Ara Poutama, Department of Corrections better equipped to handle essential tasks effectively, even in unexpected situations. It aims to improve our ability to foresee and manage risks while also learning from past mistakes. Rather than just adding more rules, the focus is on providing clear guidance that supports meaningful work and prioritises safety.
The Integrated Systems Team's goal is to address technical and confusing procedures and policies. In our new structure, this team will simplify and clarify our operational frameworks, working closely with frontline staff to ensure practicality. This team will streamline processes, eliminate unnecessary tasks, and collaborate with other groups like Tumu Herenga to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
As Director you will lead strategy and people, and have senior level direct reports including our Chief Custodial Offiicer and Chief Probabtion Officer. This is your opportunity to play a key role is setting up a business group for succes.

You are an experienced leader in the Organisational Resilience and Safety space who brings:

- Significant experience leading teams of professionals who develop operational policies/management systems
- Advanced problem solving and analytical skills, with proven ability to effectively see patterns and connect dots between seemingly unconnected matters
- Knowledge of contemporary concepts in work design, information management and communication (e.g., human centred design, de-cluttering, behavioural psychology - highly desired)
- Knowledge of relevant technical fields covered within integrated management systems (e.g., operational excellence, quality and/or health and safety, etc)
- Exceptional attention to detail and advanced communication skills, with ability to communicate complex issues in a straightforward way to a range of stakeholders and audiences

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point of the salary range is $219,493 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $186,570- $263,392 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
