Deputy Director, Curriculum Design & Delivery
Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
Te Kura Kaiwhakawā is the education and development arm of Aotearoa New Zealand's judiciary. The Deputy Director, Curriculum Design & Delivery will report to the Director and form part of Te Kura's leadership team. Working with the Board and Judicial Education Committees, the Deputy Director will be responsible for design and ongoing refresh of the judicial curriculum, as well as overseeing the development and delivery of programmes in support of it.
**In this role you will**:
- Develop and implement a multi-year work programme and calendar of events aligned to the strategy agreed by the Board, and judicial rostering requirements.
- Manage the Curriculum Design & Delivery Team and continue to build and support its capability to be sustainable for the future.
- Collaborate with Te Kura's Judicial Resources Team to ensure Bench Books and other resources integrate with the curriculum, and Te Kura's Pacific Justice Sector Programme to maximise synergies with programmes for Pacific judiciaries.
- Maintain strong networks with legal, education and professional development academics and practitioners, to inform curriculum development, and ensure Te Kura is cognisant of best practice in curriculum quality assurance and moderation.

**To succeed in the role, you will have experience**:
- leadership experience in one or more of the fields of law, education and /or professional development.
- innovating, developing strategy, and translating this into delivery.
- developing and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders.
You will also have a tertiary qualification in law, and be committed to approaches which demonstrate sensitivity towards Māori, Pasifika and other cultures. A working knowledge of the judiciary and/or machinery of government would be an advantage.

The judiciary is responsible for the work of the courts but is supported by the Ministry of Justice, a department of the Executive Government. The judiciary and Executive therefore share responsibility for delivering justice through the courts. Both branches of government have interests in developing and maintaining a system of justice that is just, fair, modern and effective, and that delivers timely and impartial justice.
Te Kura is a business unit of the Office of the Chief Justice | Te Tari Toko i te Tumu Whakawā. Te Tari supports the judiciary at its constitutional interface with the Executive.
Utu ā-tau/Salary
**Salary Range**: The appointing salary for this role will be between $124,397 and $173,973 based on skills and experience.
