Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity


The Principal Advisor will oversee all aspects of key Te Puni Kōkiri Housing projects to ensure a consistent level of delivery is achieved through planning, budgets, approval processes and reporting timeframes, liaising with key stakeholders including but not limited to Te Puni Kōkiri regional kaimahi, contractors, Council staff, project managers, and whānau.


Some key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Oversight of the project plan to monitor and track progress on individual housing projects.
  • Oversight of changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with external contractors.
  • Monitor and track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and longterm goals.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Be an adaptable team player experienced in working in high performing physical and virtual cross functional teams.
  • Have a minimum of 7 years' experience in the technical housing/commercial construction
  • Have a passion for knowledge, open to learning new things and comfortable with a changing environment.
  • Be comfortable working in a tikanga/kaupapa Māori environment, a degree of fluency in Te Reo Māori is of benefit.
  • Have the ability to identify, build and actively manage significant relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Understand the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi to the work being undertaken.
  • Demonstrate welldeveloped communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Hold a clean full motor vehicle driver's licence.
