The Principal Advisor, Organisational Support, works closely with the Deputy Secretary, Organisational Support to develop, manage and, where required, lead the implementation and delivery or work programmes related to the core capabilities of Te Puni Kōkiri.

The Organisational Support puni provides corporate services to enable the organisation to execute our vision and strategy.


The Principal Advisor provides technical and strategically sound advice to the Deputy Secretary, Organisational Support in relation to priorities, initiatives and significant programmes of work.

They will undertake analysis and provide strategic advice. When required, the Principal Advisor will represent the Deputy Secretary within Te Puni Kōkiri and externally with stakeholders.

You will have proven experience in a similar role within a complex organisation.

You will have the confidence to deal with large volumes of sensitive data and information and have worked within the public sector.


Your usual day will see you working independently but also collaborating with the team and business, so you will need to be comfortable operating in both environments.


You will have high attention to detail, superior organisation skills, be proactive, and have a positive approach to your work.

You will also be passionate, a fast learner, and someone who can approach our business with the professionalism and resourcefulness that a growing, successful business requires.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Advanced Excel and SQL essential.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience working with reporting tools e.g. PowerBI, M, DAX.
  • Strong analytical & insights background.
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proven experience in statistical analysis and converting this into valuable business insights.
