Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand Te Puni Kōkiri Full time

Aporei | Principal Advisor, Whānau Ora

Fixed Term until 30 September 2024

Te Puni Kōkiri | Ministry of Māori Development

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity
The Aporei (Principal Advisor), Whānau Ora provides technical and analytical leadership across the Whānau Ora work programme.

They will provide oversight across a range of complex issues, where the development of new frameworks and approaches may be needed.

They will also play a lead role across Whānau Ora operations, including strengthening relationships with Commissioning Agencies, Commissioning Entities and other partners.

Whānau Ora is a culturally grounded, holistic and strengths-based approach to improving the wellbeing of whānau as a group and addressing individual needs within the context of whānau.

It puts whānau at the centre of decision-making and supports them to achieve their aspirations.

The Whānau Ora team administers funding appropriated to achieve Whānau Ora outcomes. A devolved model has been adopted, whereby funding is provided to Non-Government commissioning agencies and entities. They then have the autonomy to make funding decisions based on community needs to achieve the Whānau Ora outcomes. It is a unique approach as it enables decisions to be made by those they impact the most.
