We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced product professional to join our Cards & Payments domain in Auckland as a Product Owner and be responsible for defining and prioritising product features within a given project, initiative or business focus area and leading the tīma (team) to ensure the right problems are solved with the most effective solutions.

We sat down with our Product Manager, and they let us know the following about the tūranga (role).

The Cards & Payments API tīma works on a variety of bank initiatives to create well designed, reusable interfaces for anything to do with Credit Cards or Account to Account Payments. The tūranga requires working in collaboration with front end and core systems teams to align dependencies and requirements that span: infrastructure, core systems, staff & customer front-end systems.

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this tūranga will complete?

  • Work with Product Managers to determine features and benefits and the best roadmap for the tīma.
  • Work with delivery tīma as a subject matter of expert.
  • Assist with Product planning, Roadmap, prioritisation and delivering agreed outcomes.
  • Drive product and solution discovery.
  • Risk Management - proactively identify and manage risk.

What is the tīma culture and environment like?

You will be working closely with three small talented teams: Swift, Trade and International Payments. We have a tīma who are highly experienced, focused, motivated and collaborative.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

This is a fantastic opportunity to really understanding how banking works. You will work on fundamental changes that will help New Zealander's move their money around and have exposure to a range of technologies from Mainframe all the way to Saas.

What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity?

The biggest challenge is working effectively across multiple teams. You'll also need to be able to respond well in a crisis and resolve issues as they arise.

Why did the last person leave this tūranga?

This tūranga has become available as the previous person was promoted into a Product Manager tūranga within the wider BNZ tīma. You will get plenty of growth opportunities - personal and product based.
