We are are looking for an experienced Contract Engineer to join our team.

What does a day in this job look like?

Reporting to the Principal Contract Engineer you will have the responsibility for the successful procurement and management of assigned infrastructure physical works contracts across our capital portfolio.

This is a varied role where you will get to liaise with a diverse range of people including engineers, project managers, development engineers, asset owners and other various groups within Council as well as external Contractors & Consultants.

Some of the key duties include:

· Effectively managing infrastructure physical works contracts in accordance with NZS3910 as Engineer's Representative or Representatives Assistant.

· Develop a strong working relationship with Contractors through regular site visits, progress meetings and audits.

· Have a comprehensive understanding of the financial status of contracts through their lifecycle by tracking against budget and cost to complete.

· Incorporating health and safety considerations throughout design reviews, procurement, and contract delivery.

· Undertake regular site audits including health and safety, quality and environmental observations.

· Providing regular contract updates and reports, assessing variations and overview for client representative.

· Conducting and managing stakeholder consultation with the client representative at appropriate stages of project planning and delivery.

· Preparing procurement documentation in compliance with Council procurement policies and procedures.

· Manage the contract delivery process from pre-commencement through to as-building and capitalisation.

· Providing direction, guidance and mentoring for Contract Engineers/Engineer's Representative Assistants as required.

For this role you must have:

· Experience in the construction industry and local authority 3-Waters infrastructure, with a focus on NZS3910 conditions of contract in the role of Engineer's Representative responsibility for the successful delivering of new and replacement assets

· Experience in contract documentation preparation and tender evaluation.

· Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).

· An engineering tertiary qualification with at least 10 years' experience in the industry.
