Our client, a local council situated in the South Waikato region, is in search of a dynamic individual to spearhead their capital projects team. The team's responsibilities encompass a range of projects such as three waters, roading, parks, and reserves.


The primary focus of this position involves offering guidance on and overseeing major programs, steering the organization towards best practices, local government protocols, and risk management. This includes identifying potential issues and strategizing measures for their mitigation.


The role entails providing direction and coordination for agreed-upon major programs. In addition, you will engage in various facets of the portfolio as needed and play a role in mentoring and developing fellow team members.


As the Programme Delivery Manager, you play a crucial and strategic role in leading the team through diverse projects. Your active contribution supports the Council's objectives by efficiently managing all capital projects.


Reporting to the GM of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of all key infrastructural asset development and capital works programs within the specified project parameters.


Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Project Delivery Team accountable for project deliveries
  • Supervise plans, budgets, and audits
  • Collaborate with community groups, local iwi, and other stakeholders
  • Manage and supervise contractors and consultants

About you:
As a seasoned leader, you naturally demonstrate visible leadership in all facets of your role. You should possess substantial technical expertise encompassing engineering and project management, a solid grasp of essential change management and project management processes and methodologies, and pertinent legislation.

To excel in this role, you should have:


  • Experience in a Leadership/Project Delivery capacity
  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to assertively drive and influence decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a touch of creativity and innovation
