About the opportunity

As our new Senior Civil Engineer, you will create, improve and protect the Civil Engineering environment in which we work and operate with primary focus on Civil assets.

These will include Water and Wastewater Networks and Assets, Roads, Industrial and Manufacturing Buildings including Building Civil Utilities (Plumbing, Drainage, Fire and HVAC) as well as Pipe Bridges and Foundations for tanks and other manufacturing assets.

Reporting to the Group Manager for Civil Engineering, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Set Engineering Standards in the field of Civil Engineering where appropriate external engineering standards do not exist and where there is evidence of significant integrated risk(s)
  • Set and Manage Engineering Standards & solutions for civil assets to enable the Business Units to ensure existing assets are managed through their lifecycle
  • Be a member of the SME team in their area of engineering topic expertise particularly Water and Wastewater Assets/ Civil Utilities/ Sustainability and Innovation
  • Support capital projects in relation to the assets described
  • In collaboration with key stakeholder roles across Fonterra, provide technical and engineering direction enabling Business Units to achieve performance standards and meet internal KPIs
  • Build relationships and leverage partnerships with industry and the wider engineering community in the area of innovation and technology to achieve Fonterra's long term aspirations.

About you
You will ideally have a strong background in Civil engineering in a project, operational or asset management capacity.

Working with a range of key stakeholders across the Fonterra organisation, you will have strong communication skills with the ability to drive initiatives and influence.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent
  • Experience managing engineering change in complex industrial environments
  • Experience in managing complex programs of work across many locations
  • Significant experience in Heavy Civils / Buildings and / or Industrial Engineering environments (Design, Construction Management, Construction etc) in a project, operational or maintenance capacity
  • Specific practical experience with Water Intake and Water Treatment or Wastewater/ Wastewater Treatment Assets would be advantageous.
