The Senior Manager, Executive and Government Relations position requires an experienced leader where your people are your priority and are aware of this first and foremost, that you are a "people leader".
You'll provide your people with the context and then empower them to do their best work.In this position you will lead the Executive and Government Relations function, providing expert advice and strategic support to the Chief Executive, Government Statistician, Executive Leadership team, and the wider organisation.
You'll coach, develop, and manage a team of advisors, including principal advisors and senior advisors, to perform at the highest professional standards.
The position sits within the Office of the Chief Executive, where you'll be part of a leadership team that drives proactive management of Stats NZ's engagement with Ministers and other key government relationships.
There is a team of approximately 9 staff, and you will be a committed leader - engaging, coaching, developing and inspiring your team towards high performance.

You understand where established practices are a necessity, but equally, where there is scope to challenge, innovate, and try something new.
You will bring extensive people leadership and coaching experience.It is also advantageous if you bring expert knowledge of machinery of government, and the ability to use your experience to provide strategic advice at pace across a wide range of complex issues.
You're known for building strong and effective working relationships internally and externally and have a reputation as someone who can 'get things done' while maintaining a strategic perspective.
